There was a culvert blockage due to an earth slip upstream causing a debris flow downstream and blocking the existing 1200 OD culvert. The resulting overflow of the stream across the roadway caused a road edge under slip and washout which narrowed the roadway and further weakened the road edge upstream and downstream of the culvert.The project was to improve the capacity of the culvert and re-instate the road…

The quarry site itself was extremely constrained for space, so rock had to be extracted and stored offsite until transported to the port. - [Gollans Bay Quarry Road](https://taycon.co.nz/infrastructure-solution/gollans-bay-quarry-road/): Project Info Client: Lyttelton Port Company Project Description The Gollans Bay Quarry Road project has now been completed, April 2018. This project has been a great challenging job with 240,000 cubic metres being excavated and carted down the hill to the ports reclaim area. The 670 excavator was the main machine excavating and loading out and the 330-5 has had a rock breaker on most of the time with four A30 dump trucks carting. The drilling and blasting was managed exceptionally well, with no fly rock falling onto the coal below. This video includes shots of us finishing the haul road.

The scope of works included installation and subsequent removal of coffer dams, removal of existing clay to waste, importing material to re-line the canal embankments, excavation of ‘key’ trenches for liner installation, the import and placement of under liner sands, and the trimming of batter slopes.
